Patronage support is a key area of activity in which the Foundation assists leading institutions, and key figures of art, culture, and education, who shape the country’s cultural and historical heritage. The patronage of these activities include projects implemented by the Foundation with the personal participation of Alisher Burkhanovich Usmanov.
The amount of support allocated at the initiative of the Founder provides new development opportunities for cultural, scientific, educational, and sports organizations. This allows the number of projects available to increase for the blind and visually impaired, as well as to create a sustainable infrastructure.
With the personal participation of Alisher Usmanov, monuments to Academics such as Pilyugin, Alexander Tvardovsky, Maya Plisetskaya, Le Corbusier, Yevgeny Primakov, and others have been erected around Moscow.
The goal of the Foundation’s patronage in the field of culture is to enhance the unique cultural heritage of our country and to carefully pass it on to future generations.
Among the partners of the Foundation are all key institutions of Russia in the fields of culture and art, with world-renowned names.
Since 2006, the Foundation has supported a number of projects with the Tretyakov Gallery, including the large-scale exhibition “Roma Aeterna Masterpieces of the Vatican Pinakothek”Bellini, Raphael, Caravaggio. The reciprocal exhibition was “The Russian Way. From Dionysius to Malevich” in the Vatican Museums (Italy) in 2018-2019. In addition, in 2021, with the support of the Foundation, the Tretyakov Gallery held their exhibition in Dresden “Dreams of Freedom. Romanticism in Russia and Germany”.
The Foundation continues to implement joint projects with the Pushkin Museum. Thus, together with the Tate Gallery, the works of William Turner, and William Blake were presented in Russia, and the “Pre-Raphaelites: Victorian Avant-garde” exhibition was organized.
Throughout its activities, the Foundation pays special attention to preservation of the cultural infrastructure, in particular, the reconstruction of theater buildings: the Orenburg State Regional Drama Theater named after M. Gorky, the Orsk Drama Theater, the Moscow Sovremennik Theater, the Helikon-Opera, the Theater on Bronnaya.
The Foundation regularly supports film projects of famous Russian directors. In 2016, the Foundation supported the film “Paradise” about World War II, which brought home the Silver Lion at the 73rd Venice Film Festival to director Konchalovsky, as well as his film “Sin” (2019) about the trials of the genius artist and sculptor of the Renaissance Michelangelo Buonarroti and many others. In 2020, with the support of the Art, Science and Sport Foundation, the film “Dear Comrades!” was released, dedicated to the tragic shooting of a peaceful workers’ demonstration in Novocherkassk in 1962. The film received a special jury prize at the Venice Film Festival, and director Konchalovsky was awarded the Silver Hugo for Best Director at the 56th International Film Festival in Chicago.
The Foundation contributes to the popularization of scientific knowledge, increasing the prestige of a scientific career and modernizing the sphere of higher education in Russia and abroad through the systematic support of leading educational institutions.
Thus, the cooperation of the Art, Science and Sport Foundation with the National University of Science and Technology MISIS is aimed at developing the educational infrastructure and providing opportunities for unlocking future scientific potential of young scientists.
With the support of the Foundation, MGIMO is implementing a key program for internationalization of higher education, which includes exchange lectures and internships, participation of students and teachers in foreign conferences and competitions, and international accreditation of higher education programs.
For many years, the Foundation has been a partner of the “For Faithfulness to Science” award, established by the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Support of this award is a serious step towards popularizing scientific achievements in the country.
Popularization of sports, healthy lifestyle, and physical culture in Russia is one of the priorities of the Art, Science and Sport Foundation. The Foundation regularly supports professional and amateur competitions, sports clubs and federations, and also takes part in programs aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Moreover, the Foundation supports amateur sport by implementing its own projects aimed at developing sports en mass, promoting healthy lifestyle and integrating people with disabilities into the country’s sports life.
For many years, the Art, Science and Sport Foundation has supported the Russian Fencing Federation with the aim of developing and promoting fencing, holding sports events, and training athletes who become members of national fencing teams.
Targeted assistance is a special direction of the Foundation’s activities, designed to provide assistance to those who need it. Within the Targeted Assistance program, the Foundation develops partnerships with leading non-profit, charity and expert organizations, promotes development of inclusive environment, and improves quality of life for people with visual impairments. The Foundation has implemented projects to support children’s social institutions and their members, as well as to modernize social infrastructure in the regions.
